| LeConte Glacier |
A 5-hour trip to LeConte Bay is one of Kaleidoscope Cruise's featured tours. This tour allows passengers to observe first hand the important role glaciers have played in shaping the landscape of Southeast Alaska. Marine mammals, particularly harbor seals and Steller's sea lions, and a variety of sea birds are often seen on these trips. A light snack and beverages are included. Custom tours to Thomas Bay or to both LeConte Bay and Thomas Bay are also available by special arrangement. (See Custom Sightseeing.)
LeConte Glacier at the head of LeConte Bay is the southernmost tidewater glacier in North America and one of the most active. Even on days when pack ice makes it impossible to reach the face of the glacier, giant icebergs create a magical setting. This tour compresses 2,000 years of glacial retreat into a 9- mile long fjord-like bay. There is no other area in Alaska quite like it.

| Baird Glacier |
|
Baird Glacier, at the head of Thomas Bay, is no longer a tidewater glacier, but it offers an excellent opportunity to observe recent plant succession in the wake of the glacier's retreat. The famous naturalist and journalist, John Muir, visited Baird Glacier in 1889 and described the area as "a Yosemite Valley in the process of formation."
